Massin Family Photos

An old friend of mine asked me last week to take some pictures of he and his family over the weekend after their scheduled photographer backed out for some reason.  He has two young kids — I feel bad for not remembering their ages but they’re in the neighborhood of 4-5 years old and 2 or less.  We walked from the grandparents’ house to some pretty fall trees/leaves and took some shots.  Unfortunately I felt a little rushed because from the second we started taking pictures, I could see the kids’ attention spans drifting.  And unfortunately the youngest didn’t want to stay still or have her picture taken.

I did the best I could given the circumstances, but in the future I’ll remember to take more shots in the hope of getting some better facial expressions out of the squirmy youngsters.  Maybe I should bring a clown nose, funny hat, or something like that for similar sessions — or is that going too far?

Also, I scheduled it midday because I was busy for the rest of the day, but ordinarily I would do whatever I could to avoid the intense sun of solar noon.  We did have some shade but the sun still made for some pretty uneven exposures.
